This three-hour, prize winning parade attracts over 6,000 spectators along a two-mile route. The volunteer parade day workforce comprises 125 people of all ages. Primary funding is derived from 50+ local businesses, individual donations and a raffle. Serving over 27,000 area residents, this is the single-most largest community event—with over 2300 participants anticipated. Now in its 15th year, it has grown in popularity among the parade participants, businesses’ financial support and crowd attendance. The parade will include 15 varied music groups (i.e., local university and high school bands, drum and bugle corps, bagpipers, U.S. Armed Forces bands, a steel drum band, Philadelphia Mummers bands), floats, impersonators, mascots, fire and emergency groups, twirlers, antique vehicles, large helium balloons and more. The 2011 parade will be dedicated to a local Marine, Eric Torbert, killed in Afghanistan (2010). Also, we are working with the Toys for Tots Program to collect toys from parade spectators on parade day, October 29.
